Heard a strange bird sound last night, in the near suburbs of Chicago. A quick cross of "owls of Illinois" with the recordings on you page identified it as an Eastern Screech Owl. Very cool. Thanks.

I have found so much information here. Karla is so nice that every time I have a question about my 5 Great Horned owls she answers right back. I have had a blast the last 3 years watching them have new little ones that grow up so fast and they are so beautiful. Love the site, about 2 weeks ago we started to see and owl on the power line every night. Then one suddenly became 3. We have a huge unused water tank out back and I think they might have inhibated a nest there. We had no clue what kind of owl, and now we think they might be barn owls because of your site(pictures and sounds were very helpful in identification of them). KUDOS!

This is a great website for my students to use when school starts!! We are going to use owls as a basis for our intro to the Scientific Method and the kids can use this website as a resource for their research! Love the sound bites!! this is the second year we have had 2 owls in our back yard, today we looked at the branch where they go and here we saw 2 baby's with the mother owl. it is amazing to see them...

I have just visited the web site & think it's very helpful & interesting. We at the moment have 2 African Eagle owls Izzy & Toumba approx 4yrs old & at present hand rearing to 4wk old Eurasian Eagle owls. We fly the older owls but not for shows, it's a life long love of ours.
