African Scops Owl Otus senegalensis

African Scops Owl Otus senegalensis - Picture 2 of 5 in senegalensis

"African Scops-Owl (Otus senegalensis) is widespread across much of southern Africa and into s.w. Arabia. The species has an excellent camouflage and it can be extremely difficult to spot one during the daytime. This particular individual was photographed at a day roost in Halali Camp, Etosha National Park, Namibia, in October, 1998. The photos were taken with a Canon EOS 1N & EF 300mm F4L IS lens with a 1.4X extender on Fuji Sensia 100. The camera and lens were hand-held on a BushHawk shoulder mount."
