Introduction

The Forest Owlet is a small owl with no ear-tufts. It is also known as the Forest Spotted Owlet or Blewitt's Owl.

Information

Distribution: Endemic in the north central Indian peninsula. Previously believed to be extinct but rediscovered in 1997 in western Kandesh and at Khaknar Forest.

Status: Extremely rare. Listed as Endangered by BirdLife International.
