Tumbes Screech Owl ~ Megascops pacificus

Introduction

The Tumbes Screech Owl is a small owl with short, pointed ear-tufts. It is also known as the Coastal Screech Owl. This species is not currently recognised by the International Ornithological Congress, who consider it a sub-species of the Peruvian Screech Owl Megascops roboratus.
