Red-chested Owlet ~ Glaucidium tephronotum


The Red-chested Owlet is a very small owl with a rounded head and no ear-tufts. It is also known as the Red-chested Pygmy Owl.

Distribution: From Sierra Leone in western Africa east to Uganda and western Kenya, and from Cameroon to the Republic of the Congo and DR Congo and east to Uganda and Rwanda.

Status: Uncertain, probably rare and threatened.
