I Heard the Owl Call My Name is a novel by American author Margaret Craven.
First published in Canada in 1967, and republished in 1973 by American publisher 'Doubleday Books' reaching No.1 on the New York Times bestseller list. In the year of its American release, the book was adapted to the screen by Gerald Di Pego as a CBS television movie.
The book tells the story of a young Anglican vicar Mark Brian. He has a terminal illness, and does not have long to live. He learns about the meaning of life when he is sent to a First Nations parish in British Columbia.
Margaret Craven also wrote "Again Calls the Owl", which was published in 1980.
