Owl Moon
Owl Moon is a childrens' story book written by
Jane Yolen and illustrated by John Schoenherr. It was published in October 1987 by Philomel and won the 1988 Caldecott Medal, awarded annually to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children.
The story tells of a girl and her father going owling on a moonlit winter night near the farm where they live. They encounter a Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus).
